Fakeham Auction & Market

Picture of the market square in Fakenham

Thursday is Market Day in Fakenham, when the town comes alive and is at it’s busiest.

The auction house is situated next to the market and car parks, and is open for viewing the day before as well as on the monring of the auction, which starts at 11.00 am. Starting outside there is a wonderful array of garden equipment and farm related machinery, as well as a few bikes. Moving inside are the house clearance boxes and household goods, before finishing around 1.00 pm with furniture and more valuable items in the main hall.

There are two market areas. The bric-a-brac and craft market is on the old market square by the auction house, with a smaller food market in the main square near the shops and pubs. You can move between each via the arcade and Bridge Street.

Good to visit and have a browse, plus pick up cakes and bread for lunch and picnics. Worth arriving early fr the weekend, to be there and see this aspect of the town.
