Wells beach (12 miles)

Picture of beach huts on Wells beach Norfolk

Listed separately from Wells-next-the-Sea, as it is a mile and a quarter walk out along the bank from the town to this beach. There is also a large car park behind the beach, just past the caravan site. There is a cafe, shop and toilets by the car park.

You can park in Wells town and walk out to the beach and back as a walk in itself, but you can also drive out and then walk from there. You can walk down behind the pines to Holkham beach and then back along the beach, or even go all the way down to Burnham Overy beach and back.

The new lifeboat station should have been commissioned by the time you read this and there is also a Coast Watch post as you enter the beach area near to the car park. The beach is accessed directly from the bank, or by walking along behind the pines and emerging onto the beach beyond the huts and people.

Wells beach gets very busy as it has hundreds of beach huts and a large caravan site just nearby. Very picturesque, good for young children as a shorter walk, and feels more like a seaside beach rather than peaceful place to walk.

The holiday cottage is only 12 miles from the beaches of Wells and Holkham.
